This project is set along the Erie Canal in the suburbs of Syracuse, a key transportation route for east-west shipping in the United States. Our research focused on the locks, particularly the time it takes for cargo to travel between them. We visualized this data by marking the travel times and destinations, projecting the information directly onto the canal walls to create an engaging, site-specific display.

The projection setup spans two surfaces: the vertical wall shows the names of cities along the Erie Canal locks, while the horizontal water surface displays the travel time between them. Together, the wall and water form a dual projection where upright and inverted reflections create a site-specific dialogue between image, reflection, and environment.
This video showcases the design process and key concepts behind the Destination project, highlighting an innovative approach to immersive spatial experience and narrative storytelling.
